Merrick Hanna: 12-Year-Old Tells Emotional Story Through Dance - America's Got Talent 2017
Why Toy?!!
Objective:
We tend to forget our talent and passion when we grew up. Hence, this is a toy's story collection that helps and remind people about the lessons, values, and even the passions that inspired by our childhood toy to make us become a better person and achieve our dream.
Target Audience:
Uni/ College Students
(18-24 yrs old)
A transition stage of their mind, they may be facing some problems in their study, relationship, work, and even social problem. Hence, they may lose their original intention.
Vanessa Barford (2014), a reporter of BBC News Magazine said that the education minister Elizabeth Truss recently warned children's toys could affect their careers. She said gender-specific toys risked turning girls off science and maths and urged parents to buy their daughters Lego to get them interested in engineering.
Meanwhile, Becky Francis, professor of education at Roehampton University, believes that different types of toys give different messages about what's appropriate for boys and girls to do, and have different educational content - both elements are important and might have a bearing on schooling and career choices later.

Refer to "The Lens_MY Millennials", a data set book about Malaysia Millennials, published by Havas Media shows that the millennials in Malaysia have to face some problems in chasing their dream. There are two paths for them to choose: persist their own dream or fulfill their parent's expectations.
Hence, these articles inspired me to do the project about the toy.
Millennial: Those who born between 1980 and 2000.
Change Something...
After consult with my lecturer, I decided to make it more practical, change the outcome to publication.
Make the pages of the book layer-by-layer (die-cut), as a tunnel of dream/ mindset of your future.
It shows a lot of toys here, which means a lot of choices or path that you can choose, but which one will be the one that is quite familiar with your original intention?
Survey: Story Colletion
Besides that, I have brainstormed the content of the book and I decided to add in the notebook's function (To Do List), to make it more useful.

Using gradient in the illustration to show the transition of a big kid to a young adult.
I have tried using the warm and cold colour tone as the background colour and I found out that the cold & dark background will be more suitable and it makes the illustrations stand out.

Book's Name & Logo Design
Book's Name
The book's name:
Good Old Day
-The Collection of Forgotten Dreams-
Logo Design:
Paper plane represents the feeling of confusing about their dream in life, shows that people don't know where is their destination.
Here, I have captured the different angles of the paper plane as a tryout of the logo design.
Design Elements
For the book cover design, at the beginning, I wanna design it like a children book design. However, it seems like too busy to put so many illustrations on the book cover and in the book.
Therefore, I decided to make the book cover design simple and mature, to show the mature appearance but having a children's heart inside.
At the same time, I found out that the pattern of the leaves can also represent to the different paths and choices in our life.
Hence, it can be the design of the book cover and the design element of the other promotional items.

Project Topic: Toy Collection Book
Decided to choose the *Shorelines Script Bold* as the main typeface of the book, which looks like a signature handwriting, make the book like a personal book.
Typeface Selection
Change the colour of the cover
I have also changed the colour of the book cover to make it more suitable with the content colour.
Blue Thistle
Using this kind of faded colour to express the faded dreams.
This colour is an emotionless, moody colour that is typically associated with meanings of dull, as well as formal, conservative, and sophisticated.

I have typed down the story of the toy, but not the whole story, just the main point that deliver the value’s message.
Put the leaf pattern (path) as the background pattern.
I also verticals some of the content to make it more interesting and lead the sight of the audience to know which content is belonging to which toy.
However...
They seem like they are uncompleted and the layout are disorder.
